Für die 68. Filmfestspiele von Venedig wurde heute das Programm bekannt gegeben – und obwohl große Überraschungen ausgeblieben sind, liest es sich sehr vielversprechend. Neben George Clooney, dessen „The Ides of March“ der Eröffnungsfilm sein wird, laufen im Wettbewerb noch David Cronenbergs „A Dangerous Method“ und Andrea Arnolds „Wuthering Heights“. Außerdem stellt Steve McQueen als Regisseur „Shame“ vor und Roman Polanskis Film „Carnage“ (der drastische deutsche Titel ist „Der Gott des Gemetzels“) läuft ebenfalls am Lido. Außerhalb des Wettbewerbs werden Madonnas „W.E.“, Al Pacinos „Wild Salome“ und Steven Soderberghs „Contagion“ zu sehen sein.
